Mattress Sizes and Information
Our Murphy Beds use regular, standard size mattresses. These are readily available from any mattress store. NO folding mattress. No bar in the middle of your back like those old sofa beds. No special order requirements.
NO Box Spring is required! A sturdy foundation for the mattress is built in to our specially designed internal support system.

Some of the Many Benefits
Bedding Stays in Place: When you close your bed, you can leave your sheets, blankets and comforter in place. Just tuck in the bedding and close the bed. There is no velcro or buckled strap that you need to wrap around the bed to hold the bedding in place.
No Extra Straps Needed: The leg rod that operates the two legs together also serves to hold the mattress in place when the bed is closed. There is no need to connect a separate strap every time you close the bed.
Add Artwork on the Back Wall: Some of our customers mount a picture on the wall inside the Murphy Bed, which makes the unit more decorative when the bed is open. When using a 12" mattress (maximum size) you will have 2" of space left inside when the bed is closed. The leg rod used to hold the mattress in place will keep the mattress away from your wall-mounted picture when closed. Nonetheless, be sure that your picture is mounted securely just in case the blankets catch on the picture frame.
Use Your Existing Mattress: If you have an existing mattress of the correct size, you can use it. Or, you can purchase a new mattress of your choice from your favorite mattress store. See the charts above for appropriate sizing and weight.
NO Box Spring Needed: The mattress is fully supported by a smooth, solid surface with a specially designed internal structure that eliminates the need for a box spring.
Special Sizes: If you need a custom size not listed above (e.g., California King), let us know. We can modify the dimensions of your bed to accommodate special sizes.
